The Lunch Lady meets provincial nutrition guidelines for healthy schools. You can count on us to offer balanced healthy choices with more whole grains, veggies and fruits, lean protein and less fat, sugar and sodium. The Lunch Lady works with suppliers, Regional Boards of Health, parents and kids to design menus that will appeal to children and provide them with the energy they need to support a great afternoon of learning at school.
Allergy Management and Dietary Restrictions
We do our best to make it possible for every child at school to participate in our programs. Our goal is to accommodate those with severe food allergies, food sensitivities and diabetes. Working together, we can assess the risks and modify meals to suit your child’s special needs. To participate in our program a Student Allergen Information Form must be completed. Please contact your Lunch Lady to obtain a form. We track the top Ten Allergens and disclose all relevant information on our Ingredient and Allergen listing. Please contact your Lunch Lady kitchen if you require a copy.
If you have any inquiries regarding our allergy management program please feel free to contact us at allergymanagement@thelunchlady.ca. Be sure to include “Allergy” in the e-mail subject line.
Our Peanut and Tree Nut Policy
WE ARE AWARE and WE TAKE CARE!
Lunch Lady kitchens are peanut free and tree nut free facilities. Our menu items do not contain peanuts or tree nuts. We do not serve any item that lists peanuts or tree nuts in the ingredient list. Our food suppliers must provide proof of HACCP* food allergen safety protocols. Parents of peanut and tree nut allergic children must also complete the Student Allergen Information Form prior to ordering a Lunch Lady Lunch. If you would like more information about our peanut and tree nut policy please write to us at allergymanagement@thelunchlady.ca.
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point or HACCP (pronounced hassip) is a management system by which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw food material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished food product. HACCP is designed for use in all segments of the food industry from growing, harvesting, processing, manufacturing, distributing, and merchandising to preparing food for consumption.
Food Safety Protocols
All Lunch Lady Kitchens are health inspected by government health inspectors and are operated under the strict food safety and quality control policies set out by The Lunch Lady Group head office. Our Lunch Lady kitchens follow standardized recipes using Head Office approved ingredients from inspected food manufacturers distributors*. Peace of mind for you - good safe food for your children! The Lunch Lady also receives all food safety and allergy recall notices directly from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. If there is a recall of a food we use, all Lunch Ladies are immediately notified to discontinue the use of the recalled food until further notice. In the meantime we use a safe alternative food.
